      Universal Credit and Single Parents in Scotland (Edinburgh)

      This free half-day course (3hrs) is aimed at practitioners who have some benefit knowledge and support single parents in their work. The course provides an introduction and overview of universal credit rules for single parents in Scotland and includes how the calculation works, the claims and payments process, the conditions placed on claimants and matters unique to Scotland. By the end of the course participants will: Know when single parents are affected by universal credit Understand how universal credit is made up and calculated Understand work-related conditions and how to deal with sanctions Have resources to share with single parents and colleagues Be aware of the wide range of expert advice from our Lone Parent Helpline for single parents, practitioners and friends / relatives. All content has been fully updated for 2019-20.  A basic benefit knowledge is necessary to get the most out of the session. Disabilities There are two staircases to the training room and there is no wheelchair access unfortunately. If this causes a barrier to attend the training, please get in touch with us as soon as possible and we will endeavour to make alternative arrangements. No need to bring printed tickets.  Is my registration ticket transferrable?  Yes, you can transfer it to a colleague, just let us know of the change beforehand.  Cancellations or no-shows Non-attendance or cancellation with less than five working days’ notice will be subject to a full charge of £20. You may transfer your place to an alternative attendee free of charge, please advise us of any changes. Cancellations must be in writing and emailed to info@opfs.org.uk. Allergies  Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided. Please advise if you have any allergies that we should be aware of.
